Dr. Brandon Dawson was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona. He graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, earned his Masters’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences at Midwestern University, and then went on to attend Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Dawson was in the top 10% of his class and inducted into The National Dental Honors Society
When Dr. Dawson isn’t at work he likes to spend time with his family. He and his wife, Alyssa, have three daughters, and a mini Goldendoodle. They enjoy spending time outside, going for bike rides, and taking day trips up North.
Prior to school, he served a 2-year mission in Moscow, Russia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here he continued to learn about hard work, service, and community. Dr. Dawson continues to serve his community and also volunteers at church.
Dr. Dawson sees himself as a hometown dentist, caring for the neighbors he might run into at the grocery store. His approach begins with a personal question: what would he recommend if this were his own mouth or a member of his family?
Conservative care and honest recommendations
Dr. Dawson looks for the smallest appropriate treatment that addresses a concern while preserving healthy tooth structure. He explains when treatment is needed and when monitoring may be appropriate. For patients seeking a second opinion, he prefers to form his own assessment before reviewing another treatment recommendation, then discuss the findings and options with the patient.
Helping you feel comfortable returning to care
Dr. Dawson understands that being in the dental chair can feel uncomfortable; he does not particularly enjoy being on the receiving end of dental treatment himself. He and his team focus on gentle care, checking in during visits, and helping patients who have put off appointments get back to a regular routine. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and prescription anti-anxiety medication may be options when appropriate after an individual assessment.
Smile design that starts with your goals
Helping people feel happy with their smiles is one of the most rewarding parts of dentistry for Dr. Dawson. He starts by asking what a patient wants to change, then explores the smallest appropriate steps. Depending on the concern, that may mean whitening, orthodontic treatment, or veneers. No-prep veneers are an option for selected patients; crowns may be considered when the condition of a tooth warrants them.
To help patients explore a proposed smile, Dr. Dawson works with his laboratory partners on physical or digital mock-ups. In suitable cases, temporary bonding can offer a smile test drive. These previews help guide a conversation about the design; treatment options and final results depend on each patient’s teeth and oral health.
